The provenance of the Director’s Cup is special and interesting. The original cup was donated to the Club many years ago by Bob and Judy Ripley. The Ripleys were excellent Bridge players who had begun playing regularly in Arnprior where they were impressed with the friendliness and quality of the Club, and where they were always made to feel welcome.
They named the trophy the Director’s Cup and presented it to Wayne Daze who was at the time the Director and the driving force behind the Club.
For more than a decade, the Director’s Cup has been awarded to individuals for their Can-Do attitude, for being excellent advocates for the game, for their contributions to the Club, for their work on behalf of the Club, for their expertise as players, and for their commitment to the game.
In honour of Wayne Daze for bringing so much life to the club, here are the recipients:

2017 | Mac & Gillian Wilson Mac – He was a Golden Age Master, a good and decent man and a great friend. He will be remembered for unfailingly sunny disposition, his kindness, even temper and his love of the game. Not to mention his delight in a good joke. Gillian – His life partner and soul mate Gillian stood beside him every step of the way, shared his love of the game, and continues to be kind, compassionate and welcoming to everyone. |
